









Inderal (Propranolol)
Drug UsesInderal is for treating high blood pressure; prevention of angina pectoris (chest pain); management of a heart condition called hypertrophic subaortic stenosis; treating and preventing certain abnormal or rapid heart rhythms; improvement of survival after a heart attack in certain patients; treatment of tremor; prevention of migraine headaches; and treating symptoms of adrenal gland tumors.
How TakenUse Inderal as directed by your doctor.
- Take Inderal by mouth with or without food, but it should be taken at the same time daily and consistently either on an empty stomach or with food;
- Do not take antacids containing aluminum within 2 hours of taking Inderal;
- Continue to use Inderal even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
Inderal is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent. It works by slowing down the heart and reducing blood pressure, which helps it pump more efficiently and reduces the workload on the heart.
Missed DoseIf a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
StorageStore Inderal between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Inderal out of the reach of children and away from pets.
