Drug Uses

CoQ10 is found in every cell in your body, and CoQ10 is critical in the production of energy within each cell in the human body. CoQ10 is essential for the health of cells, tissues, and organs, and CoQ10 acts as part of another class of substances - enzymes. The role of enzymes is to facilitate, and act as a catalyst for countless chemical reactions in the human body.

How Taken

As a dietary supplement, take 1 pill daily, with or without food. Do not take more than 2 tablets in a 24-hour period.

Coenzymes like CoQ10 facilitates the activities of enzymes. CoQ10 has powerful antioxidant effects, and destroys free radicals in your body. CoQ10 role in energy production has particular importance for athletes and bodybuilders. CoQ10 helps the body's energy production in the form of ATP.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of CoQ10, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Storage

Store CoQ10 at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep CoQ10 out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Warnings/Precautions

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to Saw Palmetto, or have certain conditions. Be sure your doctor knows if you have:

• a bleeding or blood clotting disorder (such as hemophilia);
• stomach ulcer with active bleeding; or
• ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.

Before taking saw palmetto, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, herbalist, or other healthcare provider. You may not be able to use this product if you have:

• liver disease;
• heart disease;
• a heart rhythm disorder;
• a history of stomach ulcer; or
• asthma or other breathing disorder.

Do not take saw palmetto without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Saw palmetto may be harmful to an unborn baby. It is not known whether saw palmetto passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this product without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Do not give any herbal/health supplement to a child without the advice of a doctor.

Possible Side Effects

No side effects attributable to CoQ10 were observed.

Studies have found that as we age, our body supply of CoQ10 slowly diminishes. Young and healthy individuals produces about 300 mg of coenzyme Q10 a day, but levels begin to decrease after age 30. In a study published in the Oct issue of Archives of Neurology, effects of high doses of CoEnzyme Q10 on the progression of Parkinson's disease was reported.

80 patients with early parkinson's disease took various doses of CoQ10 or placebo four times daily for up to 16 months. The study found all participants who took Co Enzyme Q10 did better than the placebo group. The results were especially noticeable in the highest dosed group (at 1200mg a day) - the study found that the progression of Parkinson's in this group slowed by 44% compared to the placebo group. Participants in the 300 and 600mg dose groups had about 20% slower progression of Parkinson's compared to placebo.
