Panmycin (Tetracycline)
Drug UsesPanmycin is an antibiotic used to treat infections with bacteria, mycoplasma, rickettsia (e.g., Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever), spirochetes (e.g., leptospirosis), and Chlamydophila (e.g., psittacosis).
How Taken- Dogs: The usual dose of tetracycline in dogs is 10 mg/pound every 8 hours.
- Cats: The usual dose of tetracycline in cats is 9 mg/pound every 8 to 12 hours.
Panmycin inhibits bacteria from forming necessary proteins, resulting in death and reduced growth of the bacteria. This allows normal white blood cells to kill the remaining bacteria.
Missed DoseIf you miss to give a dose of Panmycin, give it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your pet to take the next dose, skip the dose and go back to the regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
StorageStore Panmycin between 39 and 86 degrees F (4 and 30 degrees C). Keep Panmycin out of the reach of children and away from pets.
